Steering Wheel yellow - Steering Wheels


There's a yellow button on the left of my steering wheel, 99 Ford Contour. What's it for?

I have a 1999 Ford Contour. On the left side of the steering wheel near the button that turns on the rear defrosters, is a small, square yellow button and I really would like to know what it does. Somebody please help me.

push it and see or read the owners guide.. if it's the od, a light will come on the dash..

Is it to pop the trunk? Is there anything on it? My money is on the trunk release button.

Maybe it's the button that blows the roof off and launches the passenger in the right front seat into the air and away from the car.

What is the yellow arrow on my dash above the steering wheel?

I am in 4 wheel drive 2 high. On the highway the yellow arrow comes on over 30 miles an hour.

Should I be in Neutral 4 wheel drive on the highway?

How do I shift the four wheel drive?

Can I do it with the car stopped or do I have to be moving?

Its just a shift indicator, with a suggestion on when to up shift. However it doesn't always know what best, so don't necessarily use it to tell you when to shift.

As for going into 4-wheel drive, you will greatly reduce wear and tear if you only shift the transfer case while you are stopped. If you have a YJ, 87-95 you have a vacuum disconnect and it definitely shouldn't be shifted while moving. All though it is possible. As for the 97-06 Jeeps, you can shift while moving without as much wear and tear on everything. I recommend only shifting the transfer while either stopped, or just barely rolling.

You should be in 2WD High on the highway. If you put the transfer case in nuetral, your Jeep won't go anywhere.

Cabdriver gunned down on N.E. Side

A cabdriver was shot to death on the Northeast Side early Monday, apparently by a passenger, police said.

John Dexter, 49, was found slumped over the steering wheel of a Yellow Cab van in front of a home in the 4000 block of Sunrise Pass, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He had been shot several times in the head in an apparent robbery, Capt. Cris Andersen said.

A passenger called for a taxi around 4 a.m. in the 7500 block of Foss Meadow Street and Dexter picked him up and took him to Sunrise Pass, Andersen said. A witness told police the man got out of the van, then either leaned inside or got back into the van before several shots rang out, police said.

The van, which was still in gear, rolled into a parked car just down the street.

Officers were trying to connect the two addresses but “it's probable that the guy who called the cab used an alias,” Andersen said.

Dexter was described as “a kind, gentle person” by his brother, Kenneth Morris , who grew emotional in a brief telephone interview from Indianapolis.
