While the new feature will certainly eliminate the need for drivers to focus on their handheld devices while driving, experts are questioning the safety of the hands-free technology and whether it will really lessen the distraction of utilizing a mobile device while still operating a vehicle. The producers of the systems insist that using them reduces drivers’ distraction, but experts want more analysis of whether the laws apply to the new technology.
Ever since the cell phone became a driver’s trusty co-pilot, there has been a debate as to whether the device, or any device for that matter, is detrimental to our ability to focus while driving.The majority of U.S. states immediately banned using a handheld device while driving, while others have still yet to enforce such laws.
