Steering Wheel tight - Steering Wheels

Is it normal for a BMW to have tight steering wheel?

When I drove a Lexus, it had "loose" steering wheel; however, when I drove a BMW, it had "tight" steering wheel. Is this normal? Are all BMWs have tight sterring wheels?

This is what BMW is known for. It is their trade mark that's supports how well the car handles the road. I am guessing you tested the 3-Series because it has the tightest steering wheel. Throughout my years of driving car, I have come to learn that Japanese Cars have very loose steering, European Cars have very tight steering and American Cars seem to be between the two. It really matters on your preference. I came from a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT which had moderately loose handling to a 2006 BMW 330i and it was a big leap. I was not sure about the tightness at first, but now after a year and a half, I learned that I cannot live without it.

I would say no. It could possibly be a bad power steering pump. I would definitely get that checked out before it becomes a hazard to you driving it. Also check your power steering fluid, make sure it is at the right level.

Why is my steering wheel tight?

When I start my car the wheel is a a bit tight, but after I drive it a little, it loosens. I don't know what's wrong with it. There is power steering fluid.

A hard lesson in Sprint Cup driving

AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Peering through a windshield no bigger than a crawl space while pinned into what feels like a baby seat, the world appears to flash by from behind the wheel of a Sprint Cup car.

Viewed trackside, it looks more like rush-hour traffic putzing along Interstate 10.

Then you realize you were the slowest of your group and that it was probably closer to the speed of a horse-drawn carriage than Jimmie Johnson.

Sadly, that's what happened during a recent eight-lap run with the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Phoenix International Raceway.

Given a chance to test out the new surface at PIR's 1-mile oval, I failed. Miserably.

I've topped 115 mph on the open highway, plowed through blizzards with one-foot drifts, whipped through roundabouts in Paris with ease.

Get behind the wheel of Sprint Cup car, one of the most powerful cars in the world, one that some might give up an organ for a chance to drive, and I putter around like one of those brake-heavy snowbirds who travel down from the north to fill Arizona's roads every winter.
