Battery and oil light came on after steering wheel locked up and car died?

This is the second time my car died, the steering wheel locks up and the oil and battery light comes on. I turn the car off, wait like five minutes, then turn it back on. It starts and runs. Why though is it doing this?


The steering "locks up" because the engine is stopped and there is no power assistance. You can still turn the wheel. The lights come on once again because the engine has stopped and there is a lack of power and oil pressure. These are just symptoms, they have nothing to do with the underlying problem of why your car is stalling.


Common sense is that your car stalled out, but your check engine light is on when the car is running, you didn't mention this, though. That check engine warning lamp is showing a trouble alarm for you as the operator to have it scanned for trouble codes. The oil & battery lamps illuminate on dashboard and is normal with ignition on and motor stalled. Think about it, ok?

I need to add oil to power steering wheel in mazda rx8

I need to add power steering oil in my mazda rx8 and i have no clue where the tube is located. Can some tell me or give me links to website where they have a chart.
I know i need oil because i have been told by guys and also when i reverse the wheel makes lots of noise beacuse its so dry there


.... ill ask you something, how did you know the power steering pump need more oil when you don't even know where is located?

the only way to know if the pump need more oil is looking at the reservoir tank, and if you don't know where is it how you know it need oil?

A road test can reveal a lot about a car, if you know how to recognise what's normal and what isn't. Our top 10 tips give you some important things to keep in mind when taking the ol' girl for a spin.

1: Engine noises
A well-maintained engine should tick over smoothly and relatively quietly. A loud and fast tick-tick-tick on the other hand may indicate a lifter (or on old cars, tappets) issue. A listen under the bonnet will reveal this noise comes from the upper part of the engine. A low frequency knock, from deeper in the engine, could indicate more serious bearing wear and you're best avoiding this. A shrill squeal that clears with a few revs is typically a worn/loose fan belt, confirm this by checking the tension when the engine isn't running, it’s an easy fix. Also keep an ear out for whirring noises that increase with load and rpm, these could indicate water pump, belt tensioner, alternator or A/C compressor bearings and will pay to investigate further.
