Steering Wheel not moving - Steering Wheels

Car steering wheel moving while Im not engaging it....?

Hello, my cars veers towards the left if Im driving on a straight road. This is probably na alignment issue.

However, the steering wheel stays still. However, sometimes like when coming to a stop or on a bumpy road, the entire steering wheel moves a little bit to the right. Why is this happening?

1999 Camaro RWD

- road irregularities
- high crown in road
- alignment
- uneven tire pressure
- worn tires
- wind
- worn steering components
- bad shocks
- suspension damage

All or any of these can cause the car to not steer within spec.

What is wrong with the car if the steering wheel moves a lot but the wheels move a little?

My girlfriends ford escort has a steering problem. When she turns the steering wheel in a directio, at first it does nothing but then it catches and the wheels move. What Is wrong with the car and would i be able to fix it. I have a little experience with cars (BMW's) but am not sure about the Fords and dont want to have to waist money. Thanx!!!

what you need to check is the rag joint located just above the rack and pinnion it connects the sterring shaft to the rack .after time and the heat this joint becomes torn and shreded.if you are good with basic hand tools this part can be replaced with a replacement part from any parts house for under twenty dollars or you can get a factory replacement from the dealer for three times as much.have replaced them on mustangs tempos and ofcorse escorts check that first.
the wheel will turn about two inches because of the lack of matreal in the joint replacing it will return the quick steering that you crave. good luck

Drivers steer clear of HOT lanes over cost

You have cruised into a free-market moment — a classic confrontation of supply and demand that you can decide with a spin of your steering wheel.

On one hand, there’s lane after lane of crawling vehicles. On the other, the promise of a get-there-quick pass.

How much is it worth to slip the surly bonds of traffic? And how is the price calculated?

The past two weeks have seen the 15.5 mile unveiling of an optional toll lane on I-85 in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties. If you have a Peach Pass issued by the State Road and Tollway Authority, you can slip into that lane.

As you do, you are promised that no matter how bad the gridlock on the rest of the road, you will not move slower than 45 mph — a privilege that is yours for a price.

But the price changes frequently. Cameras, lasers and other sensors feed data to computers that calculate how many cars are on the road and how fast they are moving. An algorithm — that is, a set of math-based rules — leads to a recommended price.
