How do I make my leather steering wheel grippy again?

I have a very new car with a leather steering wheel. I had it detailed and the idiots used some kind of cleaning product that has made the wheel slightly glossy and very smooth, making it difficult to grip. What can I use to take the gloss off and improve friction?

A very fine sand paper.

You only need to sand small areas ands they can be out of sight too.

To find the best grade of sand paper try sanding only on part of the wheel that is normally out of sight - if you like the result make small patches a centimeter apart, across the back of the wheel. That will give you plenty of grip without impacting visually.

Additional: I'd try the other suggestions first ;] My method was used to recover an old leather wheel cover that had much ingrained dirt. Washing had not worked.

Additional: No TD's from me guys!

A simple cleaning with soap and water should bring that new grip back.

Any tips for touching up the paint on my steering wheel (tan leather) and gear shift (tan leather) ?

The tan color paint has been coming off of my leather steering wheel/gear shift for months and I dont know how to keep it up. Any advice on a high quality steering wheel cover? IS there some touchup paint I can use for this? This is for a 2000 Toyota Avalon and I want to maintain my interior in good form, any good suggestions would help alot, thanks.

Try saddle soap for cleaning. If it still looks bad, try mink oil. This will also work on your leather jacket or interior. It's expensive but it has lots of uses.

Should the driver drift too close to the lane markings, the Lane Keeping Aid provides steering torque to nudge the vehicle back into its proper lane position. The technology calculates how much steering is required based on information gathered from cameras and sensors, such as the vehicle's position relative to lane marking, yaw angle, and curve radius. However, this semi-autonomous driving technology could be abused by drivers who may prefer to let the vehicle do the steering for them. If the system detects that the driver's hands are not on the wheel, it will issue warnings to discourage the practice.

But just because the technology is available doesn't mean you have the use it. The default setting for this optional technology is set to off, and the driver must enable it each time he wants to use it. In addition to setting the system sensitivity, the driver can choose to use the lane keeping alert, lane keeping aid, or both.

Ford isn't alone in implementing antidrowsy driving technology. Its Lane Keeping Technology system is similar to the lane-departure technology used in Mercedes , Lexus , Toyota , and Volvo vehicles.
