Steering Wheel 3 spoke - Steering Wheels


Can I swap an older 4 spoke steering wheel for a newer 3 spoke one on my Vauxhall Corsa?

Both wheels have airbags in them, I have a facelifted '97 corsa, which has the older 4 spoke style steering wheel, I have bought a newer '99 3 spoke wheel with airbag, will the new one fit?
I can confirm new and old steering wheels have single stage airbags

if the old steering wheel didn't have a airbag, dont try to make the new one work, they are dangerous.
however, the new steering wheel will fit.
you need to take the cap off the centre, undo the steering wheel nut, which you will need to buy a new one because they cannot be reused, then the wheel should just come off

the wheels itself will fit on no problem, the only problem i can see if the fact that the wiring that goes to the horn and to the airbag has a multi plug behind the ignititon cowling and theres a slight difference in the plug,

saying that you should be able to remove the horn wiring/airbagwiring from the new wheel and replace it with the parts off the old wheel keep in mind the airbag light will be on and need reset once you have remove the wheel

Audi A3 replacing 3 spoke steering wheel?

I have an audi a3 sport 2004 with the 3 spoke leather steering wheel. However, it is quite worn and I want to replace it for the same one again. Does anyone know how to do this? Will it require any coding if I disconnect the airbag?

Not a difficult job at all really. If you take the necessary precautions, it'll be fine. Make sure you disconnect the battery for atleast 24 hours and ground yourself. Think of handling an airbag as handling explosives because that is what they are.

You won't be using a different airbag as most steering wheels come with detachable airbags but if it is integrated, that's not a problem either.

There is no coding needed as all airbags are the same.

Since you will NOT be disconnecting the airbag while there is power to the system, the airbag ECU won't "know" you have disconnected the airbags. Theoretically, the airbag systems are powered down when the engine is not running for safety.
