98 jeep cherokee steering stabilizer and track bar?
I got these replace 4 months ago took it back in because my car almost pulled off road now they are saying it's the mount for the track bar that is bad. Does this sound right to you? Is it possible they are to blame? What should I expect to pay for a used part (Midas) I got quoted 176.00. when speaking to the tech he mentioned it being used I was outraged because I was not going to be told it was used except "he let it out" I asked if they always use used parts cuz we are not paying used prices. Any help would be greatly appreciated
they said the mount is a matter of taking off the old part replacing with new part i don't think they mentioned welding. They said the mounting thing had become to wide and was giving play to the track bar?
is four months ago recent or would that be considered a long time ago? I did take it to another Midas and they recommended fixing sooner than later because if it breaks my wheels will fall off? I think the 1st Midas did not tightened the bolts and nuts like Dan said and they are just not fessing up to it. So now I'm forced to fix the new problem.
If the mount for the track bar is bad, then you probably have additional suspension issues which need to be handled. The mount for the track bar is a heavy duty welded part to the frame. If it is broken, what about the frame? If they missed frame damage, then you need an expert.
Takes about 1/2 hr to change. The only thing that causes this to wear out is loose fasteners. If the track bar was changed recently, and now the mount it hogged out, its obvious that the nut wasn't tight!
I would have another opinion, and see what they recommend. Good luck.~Dan
