4 way Steering Stabilizer - Steering Stabilizers

Would I be able to lift my 1998 daily driver jeep cherokee xj without a problem?

I am looking to lift my jeep around 4.5" with about 31 or 32" tires and I was just wondering if this would be fine for my daily driver? I am at college and do travel on 300 mile one way trips quite often. Would I need like a steering stabilizer or anything special or is lifting my jeep not an option? thanks

I have a 98 xj with a rubicon express 5.5 long arm lift. its my baby and my daily driver no probs, except gas mileage. and if you plan to lift it be prepared to spend ALOT of money on it, a good lift is not cheap.

Truck shimmie ( death wobble ?)?

I have a 99 Dodge Ram i have recently put on these new parts, Track Bar, tie rod, tie rod end i think just outer, steering stabilizer, 4 new shocks, and i am soon to put on new sway bar links, the thing is just driving in the city it pulls (both ways) and is affected by every bump it seems to be very "Snakey" it gets even worse when i am travelling on rough contry roads i have a very hard time keeping it on the road doing 60 - 70 Mph i usally have to drive 40 - 50. Will these sway bar links hep with this and is there any thing else i shoucl be checking for?

Sounds to me that it's simply a vehicle that has a loose front end and maybe the previous owner didn't keep up with the reg maintenances on it.
What you first need is no play in the front end and once you change the bar links that should tighten up the front end more.
If you're getting any shimming then yes all the parts you've mentioned could of being causing such problems especially if any of them had sever play in them.I'd be checking the lower upper and lower ball joints on it , plus being sure that the inner tie rods have no play either.Ball joints can cause severe shimming , plus bad drive axles or cv joints can cause such problems too especially if it's several parts all with play bec that in fact loosens up other parts on it.
Once you've established that nothing more is loose etc on the front end then make sure the wheels are all balanced and that you get a full proper 4 wheel alignment performed and if you do drive on rough roads get this done at least yrly.Make sure you check the rear suspension fully bec it can cause the front end to act up too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way make sure the tires are fully checked physically for any warps etc, plus be sure the person that balances your 4 wheels checks not only the tires for faults but checks the rims themselves too bec warped rims can really cause sever problems too.

BS on steering stabilizers with a lifted vehicle.

Demonstrating that steering stabilizers can be a bandaid or utterly worthless on a lifted vehicle. Not saying they are not useful but people use ...

Road Test: AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport 3.0d

Even though the combination of a touring body and a diesel engine wouldn’t be our first choice, we took the AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport 3.0d for a trip around the town of Aachen, the hometown of the German tuner. The Alpine White 530d we tried was equipped with every possible electronic gimmick, a stiffer suspension kit by AC Schnitzer and the stock Variable Damper Control, or possibly Adaptive Drive, in either case incorporating the Drive Dynamic Control chassis configurator that has four ride quality settings to choose from: Comfort, Normal, Sport and Sport+. The settings offered us a great way of adapting our setup while cruising through the city finding a place to shoot our photos.

The 530d’s 3.0 liter six-cylinder diesel engine allowed the journey to be done at effortless pace. The additional oomph added to the setup increases the horsepower to 286hp at 4,000rpm (+43hp) and the maximum torque to 620Nm between 2,000 and 3,000rpm (+80Nm). The difference in power is not readily felt by those who aren’t used to the turbodiesel engine, but the spokesperson at AC Schnitzer ensured us that an additional push had been accomplished in the mid-rev range. Also a twin sports rear silencer with chromed Sports Trim tailpipe trims was fitted to the vehicle and offered us an improved sound track while cruising.
