Cadillac's CTS sedan helped revitalize General Motors' premium brand when it arrived 10 years ago, but now the automaker has taken the CTS brand to a whole new level.
First a wagon was added last year, and then for 2011, the first CTS coupe.
Now comes the ultimate CTS coupe: the CTS-V model, which takes performance to the top, Corvette-style.
There are CTS-V versions of the wagon and sedan, as well, but for this report, we got to play with the coupe in the cool new color Black Diamond Tricoat, which has quite a bit of sparkle when the sun is shining on it.
āVā models of the CTS all come with the same supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which puts out a whopping 556 horsepower and 551 foot-pounds of torque.
With this big V-8, the coupe, sedan and wagon can accelerate from zero-60 mph in just under four seconds. This is definitely not your grandfather's Cadillac ā or station wagon, for that matter.
For 2012, the limited-production CTS-V coupe starts at $63,215 (plus $875 freight), but options pushed the price of our tester to $72,080 (including freight). That special sparkly paint alone added $995.

Driven: 2012 Audi TTRS Six-speed manual gearbox as the only available transmission. Even when you figure for the TT-range-topping price of $56850, the first portion of the spec sheet should be enough to tell you that the new TTRS is instantly the best TT that Audi sells. |

Driven: 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Much ado has been made about Corvette engineers helping tune the suspension of this small Chevy, and with good reason. It's darn good. The Sonic manages to be firm and involving without coming across as uncomfortable. and more » |
Chevrolet Camaro SS
The 426bhp 6.2-litre LS3 V8 under the bonnet is also derived from the Corvette, and it sends drive to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. THe thumping V8 dominates the driving experience ā it rumbles ominously on start-up, and the mountain and more »
