Steering Gearbox bushing - Steering Gearboxes

CHEVY 1974 Custom 350 truck with New Engine -Free to Good home.?

Hi there... I have brand new engine that I just fitted into my truck. Unfortunately, I have spent three weeks trying to get the transmission into the truck, without success. I have decided, therefore to give the truck to someone who can complete the job. What's new... Engine; Gearbox; Radiator; Power Steering and Pump; Brakes; and Exhuast system, and hoses, of course. I have the transmission inside the bell housing and buttet up to the bushing, but it just won't go in! Three weeks is enough of struggling with this beast; so if you feel that you could get the gearbox (4 speed manual transmisson) into the the vehicle, then it is all yours. The engine has never been run and is new, full of all fluids and electrical system fo the new ignition.. Drop me a line..

I got dibbs on it. live in nc.

you hae to use a clutch pilot before you try to put the the transmission is...... with the transmission out loosen the clutch bolts.. all around so the clutch can slide.. next insert a clutch pilot and then when the pilot is all the way in tighten the bolts.. then the trans mission will slide in .. in about five minutes... the clutch pilot is a piece that is the duplicate of the front of the transmission shaft.. you can purchase one at a auto supply or rent one from a mechanic.. take your transmision with you.. remember to put the throw out bearing on the transmission shaft before inserting it.. http://www.gomog.com/clutch.html read this ok http://shopping.yahoo.com/s:Automotive%2 0Tools%20&%20Equipment:4168-Brand=Pi lot:47610-Type=Clutch%20Alignment%20Tool s hear are a assortment of tools.. read what the links are telling you.. they explain better than me.

FORD FIEST MARK 4 ANTI ROLL BAR BUSHINGS CLAMPS DO I NEED TO DROP THE SUBFRAME & USE SPECIALIST TOOLS?

My ford fiest anti roll bar bushing clamps have snaped. The haynes manual says I need to drop the subframe, disconnect gearbox linkage and steering etc. A major job just to replace 2 clamps over a bit of rubber. On top of this it states I need to use specialist tools to then put back together.

My question- is ther a short cut to avoid dropping the subframe and all that goes with it and do I really need the specialist tool to realign the subframe?

The correct way to do it is to drop the sub frame. However in the real world all you need to do is fit a bottle jack between the anti roll bar and the sub frame. Loosen the clamp and jack the anti roll bar down enough to get the rubber bush out.
Ja.
